oh,saturday!

dress, f21; leggings,Romeo & Juliet Couture

riding boots, Vera Wang

belt, vintage

With how cold it has been lately in Reno, I've had to forgo wearing most of my dresses for any attempt to stay warm! But this patterned wool dress seemed to be perfect for the weather conditions when I paired it with a turtleneck and leggings. These Vera Wang Riding boots were a natural choice for it with the bow details on the back...a super girly touch, which is why I put on my MAC lipstick in Amorous too. LOVE wearing lipstick now! It is such an instant glam factor to any outfit. I added this thin vintage belt for emphasis and length and then resisted my tendency to layering on the jewelry, by keeping it simple. I honestly felt like I was back in elementary school with this outfit, although then I hated wearing jumpers with turtlenecks that my mom bought me...I couldn't be happier to rock them now!

Spent Saturday morning sharing veggie omelets and lattes with Lindsay at 5th Street Bakehouse. It is the only coffee cafe/ bakery that serves Rice milk as an option for lattes in Reno. You think it would be offered at more places with its gaining popularity! However, I was excited none the less for this find! After breakfast, I spent most of the day in the library studying my life away...only three more months until I am done! But oh can't seem to come soon enough!

v-day

over-sized tee shirt,Urban Outfitters

peep toe wedge boots, Deena and Ozzy

rhinestone earrings, Urban Outfitters

skinny grey jeans, Silence & Noise; bag, Big Buddha

It has now become a tradition of mine that on Valentines Day, regardless if I have a Valentine or not, I indulge in a mini shopping spree for myself...this time I was happy to click away on Urban Outfitters. I found these amazingly comfort peep toe wedge boots by Deena and Ozzy for such a great deal that I was determined to make them fit (I hate buying shoes online because of sizing issues) and to my delight they fit perfectly, so much to where they feel like they are apart of me! I snagged this over-sized geometric tee shirt and these grey super skinnies with zipper details too. Again, this jeans are like a second skin and are the perfect length, hitting just below my ankles! A rare thing that happens for me with jeans! Just loved my luck with this order (I feel like I always have to send something back when I order online!!!) My Aunt Michelle got me on the brand Big Buddha for handbags. I have been looking for an over-sized black bag that can be my default bag for awhile now. When I was out shopping with a friend the other day,I was pleasantly surprised to find a Big Buddha bad on sale. There was no shopper's guilt after this purchase and have been wearing it with everything this past week. Love the option for a cross-the-body strap and side zippers for keys and my cell phone!

Reno is definitely known for the rapid changes in weather and this last week proved it! It was sunny, blue skies, no need for anything other than a light cardie to stay warm only days ago...and now?... it's been snowing for almost two days straight!!! So much to the fact that the University closed ( yes closed!) last night and this morning due to the snow! Too bad work never has snow days! Well I do enjoy the white flakes falling and wearing my new Sorel boots, but I could forgo the driving! There are already crazy people on the roads and adding snow doesn't help! Anyways, I am ready to dig up some more warm weather finds and post them soon!

choker, vintage; trouser pants, H&M

black flats, Chinese Laundry

I could not wait to create an outfit around these new trouser pants. A dear friend of mine just bought them for me in San Francisco and I instantly fell in love! The peachy vintage color, the zippers up the ankle, and the draping in the front! Ah my favorite details about them! Since most of the material lies near my hips, I decided to go with a fitting top for the purpose of good proportion. I was inspired by ballerinas by choosing my black leotard I got from American Apparel awhile back and tossing my hair up into a messy ballerina bun. I went simple with the jewelry by choosing a vintage gold intertwined choker and vintage-inspired earrings I picked up from Macys on a sale. The little vintage clutch I had found on a thrifting trip was the perfect accessory for the simplicity I was going for. I just adore combining styles of old hollywood and the ballet;it is the feeling of elegance and feminity. I know it comes from my Grandma Honey ( her real name is Helen but we called her Honey). She was definitely a women of grace and elegance.

Nothing lifts a mood like sprawling out at B&N with Megg, looking at fashion books! Perfect way to end a Sunday!

The Sartorialist
by Scott Schuman is the next book I'm going to add to my collection! His photography is outstanding with his choice of elegance in style and lighting!

Maxigirl

pea-coat,delias

cropped tee, Urban Outfitters; Maxi dress,Old Navy

Designers like Richard Chai, Charlotte Ronson and Peter Som have embraced the maxi length skirt in their collections this year. And I absolutely loved all the looks they have created around it . So I finally decided to try out the Fall 2010 trend as I got ready for work this morning ...well kind of. I don't own a maxi skirt but I definitely rocked maxi dresses during the summer. I combined a simple black tank maxi with a graphic cropped tee I got from UO. Added my combat inspired military boots and huge gold hoops to complete my look. Kind of dramatic. But I like it!

Inspiration : Street Style

Keely and I headed to Barnes & Noble after Living Stones this morning to find me my journal for 2011.Picking a journal is kinda like picking out a handbag I found out. It's not a quick process and there are far too many to choose from, different styles, colors, and sizes. A journal is something that you want to be able to spend a lot of time with; it just has to fit just in your hands. Yet the cover can be deceiving to the pages inside. Some are blank, others are ruled and even some are squared. However in the end, I decided on a plain black Moleskin journal. I just love the feel of their pages when you turn them and how simple it will fit in my handbags.
1. Find a Journal...check!

But of course before we left, we were spread out in the Art section of Barnes & Noble, where all the fashion books are kept. I came across Style Diaries: World Fashion from Berlin to Toyko by Simone Werle and Nylon Street View: The New Nylon Book of Global Style. Both Uh-mazing! So many super rad people with great street style, my favorite! So of course when I came home, I ordered them both on amazon.com! And even better, I used my gift certificate and paid practically nothing for them! Oh I can't wait to get them in the mail!

Now I am off to Starbucks with Keely for some soy lattes and Core Humanities homework!
Great Sunday spent!
